Library Fines

Materials that are not returned on time are charged at different rates per hour/day, depending on the type of item. There is a max amount that can be charged to a person’s account, in which the fine is billed to the student’s account and must be paid online, not at the circulation desk.

Patrons arguing over a fine should be directed to Alla.

Fines totaling less than $2.00 are not billed.

Items considered ‘Lost’ will be charged a Lost Item Replacement Fee along with a Processing Fee, for a total of $205.00. However, if the borrower brings a new copy or a used copy of the same title/edition that is acceptable to the library, the Lost Item Replacement Free will be taken off the person’s account.

The replacement charge ($170.00) can also be cancelled if the item is returned within six months of the initial due date. The Processing Fine ($35.00) still remains.

If the item is returned between 6-12 months of the initial due date, half ($85.00) of the Lost Item charge will be refunded, but the Processing Fine will remain.

If an item is lost or damaged, the borrower should contact the owning library immediately. For damaged items, the charges depend on the extent of damage.
