Ground Rules for Student Employees

 

Student Assistants should be behind the circulation desk or in the backroom ONLY when scheduled to be working.

When working, Students should NOT:

When students are not on duty, they should NOT check in/out materials for patrons nor for themselves

​

  • Be at the desk, unless assigned other duties or helping a patron on the floor

  • Keep socializing with friends to a minimum, in order to provide patrons with a more accommodating desk area.

  • Keep voices down – remember, this is a library and there are people studying. We are role models for our patrons.

  • Keep personal materials at the desk to a minimum, so patrons and staff have room to conduct their business.

  • Food is allowed in the Chemistry Library, but student employees should keep their own food and drink items out of public view and only eat in the backroom. Please clean up afterwards – spills and crumbs attract vermin!!

  • Provide effective library services.

 

 

 

  • Make or take personal phone calls, except in an emergency. Notify Alla if that is to be the case.

  • Use library telephone to make personal calls.

  • Use the Circulation Desk printer to print out school work.

  • Check out materials for themselves
