Checking Returned Equipment IN

 

Procedure :

 

  1. Discharge the item​

  2. Check the condition of the equipment

     

  3. In case of damage:













     

    In case of missing accessories:
     

  4. If low on battery, plug laptops into the power outlet in the cart.

  5. At night, LOCK the cart and lock the key in the cabinet under the telephone.

  • In AELPH, go to the 'Return' tab and scan the barcode of the item.

  • For laptops, do NOT scan the barcode with the red stripe underneath the laptop.

  • More expensive items will display a pop up reminding you to check the equipment after returning it.

 

  • Check that all essential equipment components (power adaptor, cords, etc.) are present. Make sure the laptops are able to turn on and off.

 

  • If the equipment is physically damaged, inform the patron of the responsibilities he/she holds and possible fines. If the patron protests, please direct them to Alla.

  • Print two receipts with a note (including barcode number and patron's ID) with your initials, along with an explanation regarding the item and damage. Give receipt to the patron (if still present), and the other to Alla's mailbox

  • If Alla is not present. put a separate note on the damaged equipment and place it back in the cart. Otherwise, consult Alla and call DSS (5-9188). Damaged equipment cannot be loaned out before Alla sees it!

  • When DSS comes to pick up the piece of equipment, the equipment must be checked out on the DSS employee's UMD ID. No dates/times need to be changed; that will be revised after the equipment is returned to us.

  • Before you give the item to the DSS employee, photocopy the barcodes on the item because we do not have another way to replace the barcode number (Alla's photocopy card is located in her mailbox) 

 

  • Follow the procedure listed above.

  • Note: if there is equipment missing from the cart (i.e. still checked out, reported lost/stolen), the Student Assistant on duty must notify Alla in person of leave a detailed note in her mailbox, including the barcode number, patron's ID, your initials, and the day's date.
