Course Reserves

Course Reserves are course materials/textbooks available to students at the main circulation desk, provided that they have a current UMD ID. They are located on the shelves behind the circulation desk.

These textbooks can be loaned out for a 2-hour loan. Course reserves may also be checked out overnight, starting one hour before closing. These books must be returned one hour after opening the next day in order to avoid being charged a late fee.

Procedure for overwriting due date:

1. Check IN/OUT the book on ALEPH

2. On the middle right side of the page,

    - Click "Change Date" for course reserve books that are charging out overnight and select

the time 1 hour after the opening for the next business day.

    - Click "Override Date" for book drop returns and select the previous business day's date as       the returned date.

If a faculty member or teaching assistant wants to put course materials on reserve at the library, they must submit a White Memorial Reserve Request Form online, and should read the related information in the library’s Guidelines for Faculty. If they need help adding Course Reserves onto Elms, direct them to Adding Course Reserves to ELMS/Canvas.
