CREATING A GUEST ACCOUNT

 

  1. If the patron is a UMCP student, faculty, or staff, you can help them look up their Directory ID and/or reset their password HERE.

  2. If not a CP student, faculty, or staff, click HERE.

  3. Log in with your Directory ID and password.

  4. Fill out the form according to the type of ID the guest is presenting.

  5. Choose 'Chemistry Library' from the drop down menu.

  6. Acceptable IDs :
                        
                         Driver’s License w/ photo           U.S. Military ID Card w/ photo
                         State ID w/ photo                     School ID w/ photo
                         Passport w/ photo                     Employee ID w/ photo
     

  7. When all 4 fields are completely filled out, click Submit Create Request. The system processing usually takes a few minutes.

  8. After the process is complete, print the next page and give it to the guest. It contains the assigned username and password to access the desktop computers in the library’s public areas.

  9. Alert the guest that it is their responsibility to keep the account login information secret. They should also be aware that they must log out of the public computers to ensure others cannot walk up and use their accounts.

  10. Lot out of SIMS (the guest account creation system), and close the browser.

 

Guest accounts are good for 7 days. When an account expires, a new account must be created.
