Department Delivery Procedures

 

NOTE : Only UMD faculty and staff can request UMD and USMAI library items be sent to their department on campus.

 

Processing a Request :

  • When an item requested for Department Delivery is discharged, a hold request slip will be printed with “Campus Delivery” at the top along with the campus address of the patron.

  • Check item out in Aleph using Patron ID from the hold request slip. Desensitize.

  • Write, “Checked out, due X/X/XX,” on the slip near the patron ID.

  • Cut the top of the slip with the campus address and insert it into the window of the canvas shipping bag so that Campus Mail can read it.

  • Put the rest of the slip with due date back in the item, along with a Department Delivery bookmark. (Get the bookmark from the Department Delivery hold shelf in the workroom). 

  • Place item(s) into canvas shipping bag for respective patron(s). If you have more than one item going to the same patron, you can use the same bag. 

  • Place packed canvas shipping bags on the Department Delivery hold shelf in the workroom.

 

Delivery :

  • Packed canvas shipping bags will be picked up daily by the Library mail delivery person.

  • Once a the hold request is filled and the slip printed, an email will automatically go out to the patron notifying that we will check the item out to the patron’s account and deliver it in about 3 business days.

  • If you cannot find the item on the shelf, please notify Alla so that she can report the item as missing in the system.
