Bomb Threats
-
If a bomb threat is received by phone or in writing, call 911 and relay information about the call/written material. (This will help the 911 operator assess the risk factor)
-
If there seems to be an immediate threat, the 911 operator will advise you to evacuate immediately. When evacuating the building, follow building Evacuation Procedures.
-
Notify the Dean’s office (5-9127 or 5-9128) and Public Services (5-9251) of the situation at the Library. During evenings/weekends, follow the Emergency Telephone List.
-
If the building is not immediately evacuated, the University Police will generally send officers who will give management options if it is viable (i.e. evacuation, notifying patrons about staying open, etc.)
-
If officers decide to evacuate the building or notify library users of the threat, library staff may be asked to help.
